The Land Rover Discovery, which was sold as a town and country car, has been singled out as a motor to consider investing in.

The classy vehicle, which was discontinued in 1998, can now be snapped up for just £4,000.

But a top-end version of the motor might go for around £11,000.

Experts have always been dazzled by the motor, with one saying: “For those who know their Land Rovers, it goes without saying that the Discovery is one of the most iconic of the marque, but not without its repair and restoration needs.”

Classic cars aged over 40 years don’t need an MOT and are exempt from ULEZ and car tax.

The experts at Rimmer Bros also singled out the Land Rover Heritage Edition, the Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar F-Type, Jaguar XE S, Jaguar XKR, MG Z10 260, Jaguar XJR and Rover 75 V8.

Andrew Mundy, from Rimmer Bros, said: “There is a huge opportunity for younger generations to take up the hobby and start to enjoy the community with a limited barrier to getting involved cost wise.

“Those who already have a classic car habit can also make reasonable investments on cars that have huge potential.

“We feel these are the cars that will definitely have a maintained interest from collectors.

“Although parts availability is an inherent part of a classic’s appeal, these cars are relatively plentiful currently but will be ones to keep an eye on.”

It comes as a collection of quirky micro-cars that were loved by Elvis Presley have gone on sale for a huge sum– with some dating back 60 years.

The tiny vehicles found popularity in the late ’50s and early ’60s as cheaper alternatives to their full-size counterparts.

Their fame only grew when the King of Rock and Roll was snapped out and about in one at a US Army base in Germany.

Sitting at just 10ft long and with some in three-wheel spec, they were ideal for weaving through congested cities.

That, combined with their excellent fuel efficiency, made them a staple for hard-up Brits during the post-war era.

This collection features a selection of seven micro-cars, including a 1960 BMW Isetta 300 – the same model Elvis was seen driving.

Range Rover used by Queen Elizabeth to meet Obamas on sale

By Jacob Jaffa

A RANGE Rover used by Queen Elizabeth and the Obamas has gone up for sale– boasting covert lighting and TVs.

The pristine motor covered less than 3,000 miles over two years of dedicated royal service.

It’s even possible that the Queen may have worked on it herself, having trained as a mechanic during the Second World War.

The car was registered in 2016 and snapped up by the late monarch’s husband Prince Philip, before being sold back through the Land Rover dealership network.

It has now come up for sale again over five years later, still with just 18,000 miles on the clock.

Perhaps its most famous appearance came in April 2016, when it was driven by the then Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by the Queen, to meet Barack and Michelle Obama as they stepped off Marine One, the presidential helicopter, in the grounds of Windsor Castle.

The car would have previously been equipped with a hidden police siren and covert emergency lighting, as well as side steps and grab handles to help Her Majesty hop in and out with ease.

These were, however, removed once it left the Royal Household, though a warning sticker remains in the engine bay as a nod to its old life.

And in the opposite direction, the rear entertainment screens that were removed when the car was bought by the royals have since been reinstalled.

The vehicle is now up for sale at a whopping £224,850 through Bramley Auctioneers.
