THREE stunning classic Land Rovers are going under the hammer and look likely to fetch £50,000 each.

The classic off-roaders have all been fully restored and are ready and waiting to be driven and enjoyed by the highest bidders.

The first of the bunch is a 1949 Land Rover Series 1 (above) which has enjoyed a comprehensive restoration.

It’s an early ‘lights-behind-the-grille’ model which makes it a rare find and Silverstone Auctions thinks it’ll go for between £40,000-£50,000.

There’s also a slightly later 1950 Land Rover Series 1 in iconic ‘Bronze Green’ paint.

This one comes with a full canvas roof and is also expected to fetch as much as £50,000 when the bidding gets going.

Lastly, a ‘Safari’ coloured Series 1 from 1952 is also up for grabs.

It, too, has been gone through to a very high standard and like its counterparts is expected to fetch between £40,000 and £50,000.

Rob Hubbard, sales director of Silverstone Auctions, said: “The price that classic Land Rovers are now commanding is no surprise.

“The marque has a hugely loyal following both in the UK and far beyond.

“This icon of the British motoring industry has found a home in the army, on farms, in industry and in long distance desert travel.

“It is a byword for ruggedness and has proved itself over the years to be an incomparable workhorse.

“So it is hardly surprising that so many people are very fond of them.

“And now we are seeing that feeling translate into some serious prices as the older ones become ever more collectable.”

The trio will be going under the hammer with Silverstone Auctions at the NEC Classic car show in Birmingham from 12th-13th November.

In 2016 at the NEC Motor Show Silverstone Auctions, one of the earliest Land Rovers to be built – a 1948 Series One bearing the chassis number 149 – sold for £47,250, more than £20,000 over its lower estimate.

A  Series 1 Land Rover presented to Sir Winston Churchill on his 80th birthday was sold in 2012 for £129,000 in Cambridge, more than double the top estimate.
